Saturday was the CRIM festival of races here in downtown Flint. The CRIM is a festival of foot races and a wheel-chair race held here in Flint for over 25 years.
Our hotel was the host hotel and headquarters for the race. We had thousand and thousands in the building through the week, in all as many as 14,000 or more. A wise man recently told me the secret to overcoming feelings of rejection. He said something like this: “Always know that you have something valuable to give and you will not feel rejected. If you had a stack of one hundred dollar bills to give away you would not care if someone did not want to talk to you, you would just go to the next person.

My sweetest childhood memories are of simple things like the tire swing in the big oak out front, playing catch with my Dad, and swimming in the creek. Another of those simple things was chasing fireflies on the lawn as night fell on a summer evening.
