Does God care what we eat? He does. It has always been that way. When God put Adam and Eve in the garden he filled it with good things for them to eat and he prohibited them from eating some things. “You can eat all this, but you cannot eat this.” The fall of man was over eating something God told them not to eat. The first temptation had to do with food.

One Saturday afternoon years ago I was working in the parsonage yard. It was cold and blustery. The first snow of the season took me by surprise. I welcomed it. Christmas was approaching. I noticed an unusual amount of traffic on our county road. All of it was southbound. I stepped into the house to warm up and wrapped my hands around a hot cup of coffee.

I’ve always enjoyed going to the in-laws for Christmas. Some years they seem tolerant of me, too. Mostly I think they just want me to get Lois and the kids and the presents there and then stay out of the way. I have really never been very good at keeping out of the way. I am an “in-the- way” kinda’ guy. Around the holidays I always resolve to try real hard though.
