When People try to Hurt You

20 May 2009 1 views One Comment

Sometimes people will try to hurt you. When that happens, see to it you are completely right with God. If God is for us, does it really matter who is against us? (Romans 8:31) He can defend you. Humble yourself under the mighty hand of God. He will exalt you in due time, casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.” (1 Peter 5:7) For many years now I have been comforted by these words:

the-imitation-of-christThomas a Kempis wrote;

Regard not much who is for thee, or against thee, but mind what thou art about, and take care that God may be with thee in every thing thou doest. Have a good conscience, and God will defend thee. For whom God will help, no man’s perverseness shall be able to hurt. If thou canst be silent and suffer, without doubt thou shalt see that the Lord will help thee. He knoweth that time and manner how to deliver thee, and therefore thou oughtest to resign thyself unto Him. It belongs to God to help, and to deliver from all confusion. If is often very profitable, to keep us more humble, that others know and rebuke our faults.”

    What a beautiful page – what inspirational and comforting words! I recently testified before our state legislature in defense of children, and was shouted down by the committee Chairman, who did not want anyone questioning his bill (or the large pharmaceutical company behind the bill). Instead of looking back to that day with anguish and embarassment, I can now find comfort that God was with me and will always be with me. Thank you!
