Meet Ken

Click on this photo to see it larger. I am wearing a coat that belonged to my grandfather, Pierpont. It was given to me over 30 years ago. I sometimes wear it when I tell stories of the Licking County Farm. (I’m writing a book about the farm now).

I have been married to Lois, my college sweetheart since 1979. We have eight children, four sons and four daughters, a daughter-in-law, and a grandson.
Pastoring
I am a third-generation pastor. Our oldest son, Kyle is a youth pastor. Our next son, Charles is a youth pastor , too. My Dad and Grandfather were pastors. My two brothers are both pastors. My sister is married to a pastor. Do you notice a pattern here?
Since I was fourteen years old I have known that God made me to be a pastor. In school I spent my study halls reading to prepare to be a pastor. I was asked to pastor a small country church in Ohio while I was still a Junior and Senior in High School and did so until I left for Moody Bible Institute in the fall of 1977. So other than a few years of training, I have been a pastor for thirty years. I would like to be a pastor thirty more.
I love to speak, sing, and write to inspire others. I mentor people and organize things and do what needs to me done to support my story-telling habit. I am not above telling stories for food. On November 11th, 2007 I accepted a call to be the Senior Pastor at Evangel Baptist Church in Taylor, Michigan. They seem like really nice people, so I’m sure they are going to keep us in grocries for a while.

Preaching
I love to teach the Bible in practical and creative ways to encourage, inspire, and challenge people. I feel like a was born to preach. I was taking a break between speaking sessions one autumn afternoon in Northern Indiana when Lois took this picture.
Writing
A few years ago Lois and I spent our anniversary on Macinaw Island. It was a happy time. The little villiage has a library with back doors that open out onto a deck that looks out on the Straits of Macinaw. Lois took this picture of me just outside the library that day. A minute after we took this picture I met a young man who eventually becaume a Stonebridge subscriber. If you have not subscribed to the Stonebridge Newsletter I would love to add you to the list. Just click the “subscribe” button at the top of this page and I will send you a fresh, new story every week along with a couple paragraphs about what we have been up to lately.
