My Journal: Summer Plans

This summer is looking like it is about to take wings and fly by so fast! I am really looking forward to it.

Starting with the graduation here for Verity taking place so soon. Mr. Gothard will be here. We are excited about having him here at the Inn again. He called me personally on my birthday. He asked how everything was going. That was neat. I have been here for every single Graduation of Verity’s. It’s hard to believe that. Anyway looks like it’s coming up again soon.

As soon as that’s done we head for Nashville, TN for the big Conference there again this year. Looking forward very much to that. Getting out all the navy and white I can find. Last year we didn’t think we had to wear it so we didn’t and we looked a little out of place. So… this year we know. Anyway…after that…

Than the …… wedding week where we all go crazy trying to get everything done. It’s going to be here so fast. Then my big brother will be a married man. Wow! And I will have an awesome new sister. They will be off to the Dominican Republic. They have an awesome hotel their too. With three lake-size pools, 500 coconut-tree lined beach, sunshine (!!!!!!!), elegant restaurants, ect.ect.ect…. I asked if I could go too….they said no.

Today we are on the lookout for mom’s dress and Heidi and Hannah need something nice too. So it will be fun to go out and look again today. I got my pink shoes, high-heel sandals. I love shopping. Anyway can’t wait for it to get here. Me and Elizabeth have a deal she is going to throw the bouquet to me! She likes me… I like her.

After the big weekend we are heading to camp and I will be speaking there to girls. I love to spend the time reading, sitting in the sun and hopefully going Kayaking on the blue lake.

I will be posting pictures here soon of Elizabeth’s bridal shower. Mom got some cute ones and I will have to get the C.D. soon and post them. Fun times!

God is so good to us, we don’t deserve the blessing He gives.

Mother

This is my Mother’s day letter I read to my mom yesterday on Mother’s day. I cried as I wrote and tried to read this. She means a lot to me. She even cried too. And she doesn’t do that much.
——————————————————————-
Dear Mother,
Happy Mother’s Day. And here is your Mother’s Day letter for this year. It is hard to put down in words how much you mean to me and how much I love you but I will try.

It is hard believe that this is your 23rd year of being a Mother. 23 years of work for your children and family is definitely a big accomplishment.

I am thankful for your service and love to your family. I thought for the theme of this letter here I would recall some memories that stand out in my mind of us being together. I think I will try to think up a variety of them some being funny memories, some serious, some very memorable and some not so memorable.

One neat memory that stands out in my mind lately is when you and me went to the little town near Brandon, Ohio. We went to that lady’s house and picked sweet Annie. Thinking back I realize what a beautiful evening it was the sun was setting over the garden as we walked through picking those sweet herbs. Getting into the car we would sneeze all the way home. It was fun to spend time together.

I remember you taking me to the mall and tirelessly looking for a dress not giving up easily. You encouraged me to buy the white dress and telling me “I think you’ll win, so buy it” You encourage me.

I remember watching you give unselfishly every last dollar you had in your purse to a poor lady and her baby. You gave all you had to the poor.

I recall the many stamp and basket shows we went to together. You talked with me.

I think of your diligence and loyalty to God’s work here at the inn daily working Character Lunches. You’re a hard effective and diligent in working.

I remember my bunny’s you tried to save and ended up killing J You have a heart for even helpless animals like Grandma.

Taking walks in the cool of the Northwoods. Talking about everything and getting eaten alive by pesky mosquitoes. More neat times we spent together.

I have a good memory of us at Christmas. You drove me into town late one evening and we just looked at all the lights on the different houses. I remember feeling so happy and peaceful in a time when I didn’t have many happy peaceful moments.

I remember being in the delivery room hearing your desperate cries of pain. I remember Kyle hearing them too and saying to grandma “Can we go upstairs I just can’t hear her cry anymore” So we did. Thank you for giving even when it was very painful for you. Thanks for choosing life over and over again.

I remember all those wonderful meals you made at every holiday without fail always making something very specia land very, very good to eat. Making everyone feel very happy and content.

I remember you making all of us dresses so that we would look special on Easter Sunday. Although if you were a really good mother you would never have let me wear that hat and gloves.J I thank you for all the time you went to in order for us to look special.

I think of the many times you planted, watered and enjoyed the flowers in your garden. Loving the outdoors and enjoying God’s creation in simple ways.

Thanks for taking us to the beach. I plan on doing this again this year J I like to do fun things with you.

I have memories of the kid in you riding down Pine Street with your new shiny red schwin bike. You were like a six year old on Christmas. You had the biggest smile on your face ringing that silver bell on the handlebars. Thanks for having a love for life that never dies.

Thank you mom for being the kind of woman you has washed many of dirty faces and changed many dirty diapers. Thanks for really dying to yourself and your needs and seeing to the needs of the little ones in your life that needed you more than anything.

Thanks for giving when no one else saw you give. Thanks for sharing when all mother’s took for themselves. Thanks for being a mom who thought of others needs above your own.

Thanks for choosing the lowly jobs when others were reaching for something they thought was higher. Thanks for seeing that being a Mother really did matter.

I love you thanks for all the memories we made and all the good ones we still have to look forward to for a long timeJ

Your daughter,
Holly

My Journal: He is So Good

I have my bridesmaid dress in my hands! It is so beautiful! I am so excited.
Elizabeth is planning the girl’s bridal party. I think we might all go to “The Great Wolf Lodge” which looks like I really fun place.

They cannot wait to be married. They are eagerly counting down the days till the big day.

I am just about to finish the last book in the series that I have been following for close to 3 years. It is so good. “The Revelation” By Beverly Lewis. It is so good. I cannot wait till she begins her new series “The Preacher’s Daughter” I will be there the day it comes to the store. I LOVE them. The next series starts in November. I can’t wait that long.

Life is going so well. God is so good me and to my whole family. I am currently studying the Bible through the Bible Module going on here at the Inn. Right now I am studying the book of Philippians.

I am so excited about this summer. We are heading to Nashville, TN for the Conference. The big wedding is June 11th. Then we are going to Camp Barakel and Chuck is going to be a counselor there this summer. I am so excited to see what awesome things the Lord has in store for me and for my family. Following the Lord and walking closely with Him is so rewarding and fulfilling, peaceful and satisfying.

I was just thinking today as I read in Philippians 4:19 “But my God shall supply all your need…” How true!!! How beautifully true! I am one girl who does not know much. I am lacking in so many areas I am sure but I can stand and say to all that I have seen the faithfulness of God! He is Faithful! He is my real Joy. In Him is my Joy found. And I love Him…

A Basic Fact: A Christian Young Lady desires inward beauty. She want’s to glorify Christ, not herself.
I saw a girl. I thought she was pretty. Then I started to read what she wrote on her blog. I looked at what she wore. I saw she called a girl very dear to me one of the filthiest words you can say for no reason at all. I all of the sudden didn’t think she was cute anymore. Ladies, inward beauty is so very important.

A Basic Fact: A Christian young lady obeys her parents.
If you can’t do what your parents say, you can’t obey God.

Like Ester in the Bible was under her authorities we have a responsibility to be under our parents authority. It is not easy. But it is what the Bible commands. Ephesians 6:1 “Children obey your parents in the Lord for this is right”

I seem to have this discussion come up often. People want to debate whether they should obey or not. They say well I am not a child anymore or my parents are not kind and loving to me. The real question then is: Do you believe in obeying God?
