Review For You! Bare Minerals

bare-minerals.jpg I love reading about makeup that actually works or does what it says it does. Before I buy something I want to know I will be happy with it! So I have done a little review for you!

I can tell you from personal experience this product is great! It’s what I use every day. It’s powder that turns to a lightweight foundation on your skin when applied with a brush. You don’t even feel like your wearing makeup at all and you look very natural. This is one of my favorite foundations ever. I used to use liquid or cream-to-powder and since using this I have reduced the amount of acne on my face by I would say 90% (now you can hardly help that 10% but I am working on it.) So, get some mineral makeup and try it for yourself. I use this featured here “Bare Minerals” but maybe another brand would be just as nice and not as expensive! Try it, I don’t think you’ll regret it.

Homemade Spa-aaaah!

feet-a-the-spa.JPG Ok, this is a cool idea. As you might know before I moved to Michigan I had an awesome job at an adorable little nail spa in Hinsdale, IL. Loved it. Everyday I enjoyed being the receptionist and listening to the latest small town gossip to the sound of bubbling padicure baths. The ladies always seemed to be in a pretty good mood as they would come in ready to have some time to relax and enjoy the “mani” or “Pedi” or both.

I watched the nail Tech’s give there manicures and pedicures to the ladies there and every once in a while got my own! That was awesome. One day I had the idea and I went to Sally’s Beauty Supply store. I got all the needed things to give a manicure or pedicure. I went home and gave my little sister Hope and Mom their very own pedicure. I had a lot of fun doing it and I know they enjoyed it. (As my Mother still asks me for one, I will give you another one I promise)

foot-candy.gif So, if you want to do something sweet for those girls in your house…something they will always remember ( you could try it on the guys but sometimes they think they are too manly for such things… hahah !! ) simply get some foot scrub, beautifully smelly lotion, a foot file and a little foot tub. Fill your little tub up with hot, soapy sudsy water…. ahhh.. yeah. They will love you for it and don’t let it stop there… let them give YOU one too! It’s fun and then when summer comes you can all go get a real one. The french pedicure is the best.

If you want to make it a little extra special get a free recipe off a spa website (this one has a lot of nice ones) and make your own foot bath. Just remember don’t start this spa stuff if you don’t want to keep it up, girls just like this kind of stuff. It’s just perfect for a cold winter day like we have been having of late.

I just love girly stuff like this….

From My Bible…

“Therefore be imitators of God as dear Children. And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us and given Himself for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling aroma.” Eph. 5:1-2

Just think! We have the opportunity today to live in such a way that we are a beautiful aroma to God. Just like Christ was when He gave Himself as a sacrifice. The sacrifices today we have to make will not go unnoticed! They will be like a beautiful flower before the Lord, giving off a beautiful aroma He loves.

Style & Beauty

little-black-book.jpgI have always loved fashion, style and beauty. It’s a fun, very girly and feminine thing to do. Something that is perfectly healthy and normal if your a girl. This is something you should do, I beleive, if you are a Christain young lady. Too often Christian young women find it wrong to be stylish or look beautiful or enjoy fixing up. I beleive this is a wrong way to think! Beauty is something God given. See our Bible heroine Esther ( though I don’t recommend spending, what was it 12 months? in a row just on your personal appearance, as she did ) she was beautiful and God used her mightily because of it!

nina.jpg Recently my sister Hannah found a cute book at Borders that she showed me, knowing I would also love it. (Thanks Hannah) It’s called “The Little Black Book Of Style” by Nina Garcia. It’s really a cute book and I love reading it. I think it’s good to be as stylish as we can as Christian young women. We of all people should know how to be stylish in the right way. I actually would like to write more about this subject a little later. Based on a question I recieved from a girl thinking about all of this. Coming soon. Anyway!…

og-pink-and-brown-boot.jpg My style is that I love unique things. Realizing that this IS your style. The things that you really like are the things that set you apart and make you kind of your very own person. Of course, some people need more help with seeing fashion then others. But I like this rule that if you like it and others say “That looks like you” then this is your unique style!

For me. When I am shopping with my sister’s (one of the coolest things you can do, by the way) they will often see something with ruffles, tapers to the waist, gathers, and say “Holly, this looks like you”. Usually, they are right! It’s my style! I beleive we all have our own style.

Style Tips from “The Little Black Book Of Style”

– You can never have enough high heels. (I like this one)

– Wear your size. (When I realized this it was like night and day! A lot of times I don’t need to wear a size Medium just for the sake of “modesty” that wasn’t modesty that was frumpy and frumpy isn’t holy! Ok? OK … moving on … I can fit a size small and still be modest and look like a woman. Yeah! There may be a time, God forbid, that I can’t wear a small I need to enjoy it now!)

One of the quotes in the book I like. She was talking about not always going with the flow. To be fashionable we need to do our own thing. Be our own person. I like this. Yet at the same time, I beleive we shouldn’t purposefully go against things that are in style just for the sake of oddly sticking out.

Here is the quote:

“Only dead fish swim with the steam” – Malcolm Muggeridge

red-shoe.jpg So in other words, do your own thing! Make your own style. When people see something unique in the mall or in the store they say your name. That is YOU! So be stylish, have fun! Find your own way. Let me tell you it can be a challenge to find beautifully stylish things that are modest and honorJesus. I am not expert and never claim to be. But, IT CAN BE DONE. Yes it can.

What’s Important?

martha.jpgI was sitting in the living room just the other morning reading my Bible and Mom was on the other side of the living room looking at the computer. It was a quiet morning and the sun was shining on the fallen snow outside. It was beautiful and quiet a good time to get the coffee brewing and have my morning devotion to Jesus.

4380374.jpegI was sitting there reading when mom played a link on Martha Stewarts weblog. She was interviewing a lady on her show about the abuse of horses. This lady has a shelter for horses and Martha was donating to her organization some old blankets for the horses there. She talked of the horrible abuse she saved certain horses from and most of all the slaughtering that would have taken place had she not. Martha commended this lady on her stand for ending horse slaughtering and being a shelter in their need.

I couldn’t help but think of the slaughtering of unborn babies. Just the other day we drove past what I am sure was an abortion clinic here in town. I asked mom if she thought that’s what it was. There was a man standing out front talking on his cell phone and I am sure that’s what took place there. When I heard Martha’s show I couldn’t help but think —

“Who is standing up for the slaughtering of babies? The innocent little ones that are so precious and created in God’s own image?”

babyface.jpgMy thoughts after the room fell silent again were; “Who’s gonna stand up for and proclaim the rights of the unborn” We are the ones that are to stand up for the unborn and to proclaim that it’s wrong to take another’s life into our own hands. Especially something so precious and small and in what you would think is such a safe place to be – a mother’s womb.. right?

Don’t get me wrong. I love Martha Stewart. I think her blog and website are inspiring and it really seems to encourage women to take care of their homes. I think you should add her blog and webpage to your favorites. Plus she has some beautiful ideas that I love! Yet, our world is confused and mixed up when we talk about saving horses from slaughtering, and people are crying over whales not being set free, and right in our very own towns babies are being slaughtered silently and almost under cover and no one speaks up about it?! What’s wrong? I just thought I would, for their sakes.

If you live near a crises pregnancy center think about getting involved. If women are standing up and see the need to protect horses do you see the need to protect the babies? I do. Trust me you won’t get recognized for it and you won’t make it on Martha Stewert or “the view” to make your cause known but they need a voice too. Which would you say is more important horses or unborn babies?

The Complete Jane Austen Classics!

Jane Austen lovely classics we love are now airing on PBS! I would love to watch them but we don't have that channel.

I am interested in getting these new movies soon. Of course my Mom's all time favorite is the PBS version of "Pride and Prejudice".prideandprejudice.jpg

If you would like to see the line up of these classics see there webpage.

Also, for those of you single girls out there, who don’t have much to do (cause after all we are single! Hahah that’s the beauty of it!) you can now rate “The Men Of Austen” You can see all kinds of stats on them like how much they make per year, their interests, where they live, how much they make…. you know the important things. Though I will admit looks won out for me and I voted for well… I guess I will keep that a secret. You vote and let me know and then I will tell you who I voted for. It was a close tie for me.

I am looking forward to seeing “Persuasion” and possibly “Northanger Abbey”. And make sure if you have PBS to make it a girls night and watch them and then let me know how you liked them.

I have been meaning to write here a long post about the wonderful things Jesus has been doing in my life lately. But time has gotten away from me so I will just write a quick short post here about what I am up to. I am thrilled about it.

We love our new church family and ministry. The people have been so nice, welcoming and loving toward us. Dad loves being a Pastor again and all of us are enjoying this new stage in our lives. I am enjoying getting to know the girls in the church and trying to take out as many as I can for coffee as possible to get to know each other. It’s been fun.

I would love to tell you of the new things God is doing in my life lately so if you would like to see that go to www.pierpontsingers.com. This is our new website my uncle Kevin made for us and did a GREAT job. We are very thankful for him and his ministry to us and others. I am working on getting more info and content on the site but for right now take a look! We are thrilled about this and this is sorta like my full time job right now. I am keeping busy calling, churches, festivals, fairs, and missions in Kentucky and anywhere we can to expand our ministry. I am excited and God has given me a joy and peace and assurance that this is something He wants us to do at this time.

So look up www.pierpontsingers.com and look at the link “Mountain Parkway Kentucky Summer Tour” for what we will be doing this summer!!
