Set-Apart Femininity

I want to bring to you a great book! (Another one of my favorite things) I just bought this at the Christian bookstore and have already enjoyed it a lot. There are some great things that Leslie covers. I like her. She stnads up and says things a lot of people won’t say today. I like that fact that she is relevent and lives in the today world, yet she speaks the truth about our needing to get back to some of the “old-fashioned” ways of life = God’s ways.

This book had inspired me already to live as God would have me live in beautiful set-apart femininity. Get it!

OK, another thing you can do right now. And that is to visit her blog. I did just tonight. www.setapartgirl.com She has links to great sites, 6 - 10 minute podcasts that will encourage you (I listened to one tonight it was great), she has a couple of online magazines with great stuff in them and more! So go there and check it out! I really enjoyed it tonight and will be visiting it more.

So off of Leslie’s blog I found another neat blog. This girl Christa Taylor sells cute, feminine affordable, fashionable clothes. And part of the profits go to orphan work! What a cool idea. She also has a cool blog you should check out. www.christa-taylor.com

In the girls bible study I just started on Tuesday evenings I told the girls that one thing we need to do is saturate ourselves with truth. God’s truth. There is so much junk out there. So many lies. So much of it! That we need to come back to the living and breathing truth. Of course that would be God’s Word. As well as other great things too. And these websites and book would be one of the great ways of getting truth into you! Proof there IS good stuff if we seach hard enough. Thank the Lord…

Crazy Love

Ok, I was just reading my dear Brother Kyle’s blog the other day and noticed his post about this book. I had to go out and get it. Of course, in my stop at the Christian Bookstore I found so many books I wanted. One of which I did purchase and I will also post here later … very good book. But this one….. Crazy Love, was the reason for my going. This book is by Francis Chan. I have enjoyed Francis’ videos online. You should look them up if you haven’t seen them.

This book gives you a fresh new look at what our relationship with God should really be like. I love books about loving God. Ever since I was young (younger than I am now) I have realized the most important thing I can ever do is love God. As that is what God said Himself. This is one book that takes me farther along in that pursuit. I want to love Him so much more than I do. I want to have a CRAZY love for Him…One thing Francis said I wanted to share here… “He doesn’t need us at all…. yet he loves us and doesn’t stop wanting a relationship…. we DESPERATELY need Him yet we act like we can take Him or leave Him”. Wow. He points out that our relationship with Christ needs help. We need to really awaken to a deeper love for our First Love, Jesus, once again.

Go to his website… www.crazylovebook.com and watch the videos there. I watched one last night I think it was called “awesome factor” about how small we really are! I was speechless when I got done watching it…. speechless. Which, I think, was the point.

May we all enjoy the deepest love in the world with the only one worth giving our all for…

Writing It Down

moleskine-mini-journal.gifI want to share a little tip that has helped me in my quiet times with Jesus in the morning. I try to pray as well as read my Bible, (of course) and sometimes if I haven’t made it up early enough to beat everyone else it’s a little hard to think about praying so… writing my prayers down is something I have tried to do for a while. Though I am not as faithful as I want to be I have done if for a few years now.

I love these little journals. They are called “Moleskine”. My dear Brother Kyle got me my first one for my birthday. And I loved it. I like the mini size one. It’s perfect size for me. I have so many thoughts prayers in this little black book. I love to take it out and look through them. I am revived in my walk. And lately tears came to my eyes at how GOOD God has been to me! I have written out prayers when I was going through very happy times in my life and… at one of the hardest times in my life when I so needed His direction. I have prayers from the green hills of New Zealand and to driving through Mexico on a bus (and you can tell by my messing handwriting as I wrote out a prayer).

These are so special to me now! I look back and I am encouraged when I doubt the faithfulness of my God I am rubuked by my own words and by God’s hand of faithfulness always on my life. I would love to write a few out here one day. So, whatever you do to make your quiet times special I think you should have a journal and write out your prayers to God. It’s so worth it! Jim Elloit did this and his writings and openess always encourage me. I am amazed at God’s work in his life. I would never have known half of the awesome work God did do in His life had he not taken the time to write them down. I am glad he did. He is my hero.

Get a journal and write your prayers down! It will AMAZE you at the faithfulness of your awesome God! And how many prayers He has answered in your life. Yes it will because He is faithful.

From My Bible…

“Therefore be imitators of God as dear Children. And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us and given Himself for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling aroma.” Eph. 5:1-2

Just think! We have the opportunity today to live in such a way that we are a beautiful aroma to God. Just like Christ was when He gave Himself as a sacrifice. The sacrifices today we have to make will not go unnoticed! They will be like a beautiful flower before the Lord, giving off a beautiful aroma He loves.

Jane Austen lovely classics we love are now airing on PBS! I would love to watch them but we don't have that channel.

I am interested in getting these new movies soon. Of course my Mom's all time favorite is the PBS version of "Pride and Prejudice".prideandprejudice.jpg

If you would like to see the line up of these classics see there webpage.

Also, for those of you single girls out there, who don’t have much to do (cause after all we are single! Hahah that’s the beauty of it!) you can now rate “The Men Of Austen” You can see all kinds of stats on them like how much they make per year, their interests, where they live, how much they make…. you know the important things. Though I will admit looks won out for me and I voted for well… I guess I will keep that a secret. You vote and let me know and then I will tell you who I voted for. It was a close tie for me.

I am looking forward to seeing “Persuasion” and possibly “Northanger Abbey”. And make sure if you have PBS to make it a girls night and watch them and then let me know how you liked them.

My Princess…dress like royalty

crown.jpgI’ve called you to be royalty, My princess.
You don’t have to conform to the wordrobe of this world to feel good about yourself. Remember, what you wear initially defines what people think about you. I want your wordrobe to honor Me. You don’t need to dress to get attention - I can make you more beautiful than any fashion designer because I specialize in internal and eternal makeovers. Your favor and beauty radiate because you are a reflection of Me. Keep in mind that those who design clothes to expose your body do not love your soul like I do. My love, let your wardrobe reveal my Spirit - not your flesh. So robe yourself today like the royalty you are.

Love,
your King and your eternal beauty

~Christmas Wish List~

sherirose.jpgAt the Christmas Conference this year they gave each of the girls this book “His Princess” by Sheri Rose Shepherd. Sheri Rose Shepherd is a former “Mrs. USA”. I am really enjoying this little book. I also got the second one “Prayers To My King” via the Internet. I also enjoy this one as it his-princess.jpgcorresponds with the first.

These books have helped bring my relationship with God into more of a closer face-to-face reality- a beautiful relationship. I know God is doing this deeper work through Himself.prayers.jpg

So, I highly recommend this for your Christmas wish list ladies! There is also another one I don’t yet have by the name of “My Prince Will Come” and that one also looks really good.

Here is one of the beautiful prayers from this book of “His Princess: love letters from your King”:

“My Princess…Hear My Voice

I am always here for you. I am never too busy to talk to you, my Beloved. If you will turn from the things that drown out My voice, you will hear Me in your spirit. When you don’t know where to go, you will hear Me give you divine direction. When you are in need of a friend, you will hear Me whisper “I am here.” When you need comfort, you will hear Me call to you, “Come to Me.” Don’t let the voice of your own uncertainties distract you from My still, small voice. Quiet your spirit and know that I am your Heavenly Father and you are My precious daughter- I love when you listen to Me.

Love,
Your King and the Voice of Heaven”

myprincewillcome.jpgI am loooking forward to gettting her 3rd book in this series “My Prince Will Come”. She has also written a book both my sister Heidi and I have enjoyed called; “Life Is Not a Dress Rehearsal”. Written about her hard life experiences and also her experience of winning Mrs. USA. Very interesting and fun read.

To check out her ministry and hear her speak go to her website.

Have Merry Christmas Girls!

A Good Book To Read

picture-of-place-of-quiet-rest.jpg“A Place Of Quiet Rest” by Nancy Leigh DeMoss. I have it and love it. It has really made my strongly desire getting in the Word daily. Here is a meaningful story found in it’s pages.

“Margaret Nikol remembers vividly what it was like not to have access to a bible. A concert violinist, Margaret grew up in Bulgaria under one of Communism’s most repressive regimes. Though her Father was a pastor, he did not own a Bible. When she was a little girl, the Communists confiscated virtually all Bibles in the country.

However, an elderly woman in Margaret’s town managed to hold on to one Bible, which became a treasure shared by all believers in the town – literally. Each page was distributed one by one. Margaret felt blessed to receive one page that included Genesis 16 and 17 – a page she cherished and diligently studied. Her brother, a pastor in Bulgaria, had as his sole “library” a couple of pages from the Bible that he had copied by hand.

When Margaret was in her mid-thirties, she was exiled to the United States. Shortly after she arrived in America, some newfound friends asked what she would like for Christmas. Margaret didn’t have to think long. More than anything else, she wanted a Bible.

Margaret describes the day her friends took her to a Christian bookstore to make the purchase. It was the very first time she had ever seen a complete Bible: “There were red ones and black ones and green ones and blue ones and brown ones – every size, every shape – Bibles everywhere!” Overwhelmed by the sight, the thirty-seven-year-old woman stood in aisle of that bookstore and “wept and wept and wept for joy!” “

I highly recommend this book to anyone who desires deeper “intimacy with God through a daily devotional life”.

My Latest Read

I finished the book “Seeing and Savoring Jesus Christ” By John Piper it was a great book.

God used that book in my life to open my eyes for the real picture of Christ. I still feel I have a long way to go in really seeing Jesus for all that He really is. I think I tend to get my own picture of whom God is and He is so much greater, and bigger and more beautiful, full of glory than I could ever imagine. The best part of this book is the beautiful prayers at the end of each chapter I found myself praying these prayers with all my heart. After the chapter on Christ “Indestructible Joy” here is one prayer I love.

“Father, it is a great comfort to us that you and your Son are never glib and never gloomy… We stand in wonder that the light of Jesus’ joy makes a rainbow on the tears of His face. We long to be like this. Satisfy us in the morning with you steadfast love that we may rejoice and be glad in You. Waken our slumbering souls from the sleep of listlessness. Take away the luke warmness of our hearts. Fan the flame of zeal for the glory of your name. May Christ so dwell in our hearts with His indestructible joy that day by day we are conformed to His image. And so may we be a place of refuge and eternal refreshment for a hopeless, joy-seeking world of people who do not know they are starved for the glory of the gladness of God in Jesus Christ. In His name we pray, Amen.

That is the prayer from deepest part of my heart.
