  1. Brother Ken,
Thanks again for sharing! What wonderful news Kyle and Elizabeth have recently shared! Our family rejoices and praises God with you all.
Recognition – I recently went to Chicago to hear Ray Comfort speak… After many introductions that were full of praise and recognition, He (Ray) began by saying, “I know who I am. I’m not a great preacher, I just preach a Great Message.” I say Amen! I need not say more. I oftened wondered why anyone in Heaven would cast down their crowns at His feet/the throne. (See Revelation 4:10 below). Then I realized almost four years ago that “apart from Him we can do nothing.” Man is so centered on himself that he tries to do and be for God what only God can do and be for him. The life of faith unleasehes all that God is – Everything – and gets Him into action on our behalf. The only one to be congratulated for anything done in the flesh by faith is the one in action – Christ. I love this quote by Ian Thomas, “Man is always trying to be man-sized for God, forget it your too small. All that God is asking for is the opportunity to be God-sized in a man, He’s that big.” Faith – that which is done in total and utter dependence upon the one who not only died for me, but now lives in me (salvation demands the death of Christ for us and the life of Christ in us!) Christ is what it takes to be the Christian we have become. “For in Him (Christ) dwells all the fulness of the Godhead bodily. And you are (present tense) complete in Him…” Colossians 2:10 When we have Christ we have all that we could ever need. Thus, when I get to Heaven any crown that may come my way will be offered back to the one who is responsible for anything worthy that was done in this redeemed flesh. Then again, He redeemed that He might please Himself! “As my Father sent me and I by Him, One day I send you and I by you.”
Ken, I know that you already grasp this principle, but I still wanted to share because I hope I’m never weaned of it – this life in Christ!

10The four and twenty elders fall down before him that sat on the throne, and worship him that liveth for ever and ever, and cast their crowns before the throne, saying,

11Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.

  2. Thanks for putting your thoughts on “paper.” It’s so good to hear from you and read your insights. I can almost imagine us having this conversation while striding the trail. Maybe Pictured Rocks or the “Porkies” some day.
