Meet the Family

Ken Pierpont
(810) 239-1234

Allow me to introduce myself. I’m Ken Pierpont. I have been married to Lois, my college sweetheart since 1979. We have eight children, four sons and four daughters.

We live at the Riverfront Character Inn and International Convention Center in Flint, Michigan where I serve as the Director. My goal in life is to communicate truth about Jesus Christ and to nudge everyone I meet a little closer to Him every day by living out that truth in my life and family. I aspire to be like Barnabas, just to encourage people wherever I go, young and old alike.

Speaking Ministry

My father and grandfather were preachers and I have been preaching since I was fourteen years old. I took my first church at seventeen. I have preached in jails, rest homes, schools, camps, conferences, conventions, street corners and of course churches large and small. I love to speak to groups of all ages from little children to senior saints. I like to use a combination of lively story-telling and Bible preaching to inspire and encourage.

I have pastored in Ohio and Michigan for the last couple decades. I have served in Ohio in Mercer County and Knox County and in Michigan in Niles, Jackson and Fremont. I am now the Director of the Riverfront Character Inn and International Convention Center in Flint, Michigan. The Character Inn is a sixteen-story convention center capable of servicing groups from 20 to 2000. You would have to visit to get the whole picture, but for an introduction you can visit us on-line at www.characterinns.org.

Family Music and Ministry

I love to preach, speak, write, sing and tell stories to encourage people and inspire good things. We try to be out every weekend possible preaching and singing somewhere in the state of Michigan. When I speak the family usually travels with me to sing. They say it looks a little like the VonTrapp Family.

Meet the Family

Family at Fremont.jpg

Lois Gail has been my wife since September of 1979 and she is the mother or our eight children. Lois Gail was born in a little mountain town in Kentucky. We met in college. She is a homemaker and loves to do creative things with her hands. She has a God-given nurturing instinct which kicked-in one late autumn day in 1981 and has continued to this day. One of her many creative pursuits is photography. She has a lunch business here at the Character Inn and she has her hand in about everything else, too. We home-educate the children so her days are full and happy. She is a strong woman with a child-like love for life.

Kyle and Hope

Kyle Dale was born in 1981 in Coldwater, Ohio. After completing his home education Kyle served in the Air Land Emergency Resource Team. ALERT was a unique form of missionary service involving rigorous physical, mental and spiritual demands and skills including diving, high-angle rescue, scripture memory, training in counseling and personal evangelism and military-style personal discipline. His ALERT experience took him to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, Florida, Georgia and Big Sandy, Texas the home of the International ALERT Academy. He is a salesman for Shoreline Insurence in Muskegon, Michigan. Kyle and Elizabeth were married on June 11, 2005 in Lansing. They now live near the West Coast of Michigan in a quaint house I like to call "Little Cottage".

Holly Allene was born in 1984 in South Bend, Indiana. She is a fine young lady and all our hearts could ever hope for in a daughter. She has her own web site at www.kenpierpont.com/holly/ Let her know what you think. She assists me every day as my personal secretary and all-around helper. Holly is the front desk manager here at the Character Inn. She has a sincere love for the Lord Jesus. She has a beautiful alto solo voice. She is gifted at teaching and caring for children. She is an incredible help around the house and with the family. She also has an interest in quilting. A story about Holly was published in "Stories for the Teen's Heart 2." You can read it here. Holly would like to be a missionary wherever God leads her. Every year she organizes a gathering for young ladies to encourage them to be keepers at home.

Charles Kenneth "Chuk" Pierpont

Charles Kenneth was born in 1985 in Jackson, Michigan. Chuck is a good athlete, and a good student. He picks up on things quickly. He has a great sense of humor, he loves the outdoors, mountain biking, fly-fishing, and hiking. He likes to read, especially about business, and listen to classical music. He and Kyle sing and are trying their hand at writing songs. People love it when they play and sing their own music. They long to take a trip west to Colorado some day and sing their way out there in churches, rest homes, jails, etc. Chuck is an all-around assistant here at the Character Inn and a delightful son. He is closing in on his Bachleor's Degree.

Heidi Grace

Heidi Grace was born in 1987 in Newark, Ohio. She is a blue-eyed blonde like the Heidi in the story. She is like sunshine streaming through the window. She is a reader and a good cook and helper around the house. She also has a beautiful strong, low singing voice. She makes perfect cookies every time. She has grown into a delightful young lady. She is a big help around our family ministry and a sweet girl. She, like all her sisters is very social. Like Holly, Heidi and Hannah she loves to read and enjoys good music and shopping. She has a good sense of humor and a love for life. All the girls love a good wholesome story in a book or on film. Heidi helps sell Character Lunches every day and works at the Front Desk. She knows the Lord and wants to live for Him.

Hannah Ruth and Dad

Hannah Ruth was born in 1989 at home in the parsonage in Knox County, Ohio. She has her mother's brown eyes. Hannah loves singing and going to the library like her sisters. She is a good helper too. She is good company on a long ride. She can be very quiet and reflective some days. Other days she is full of life and fun. Holly is done growing at a little over five feet tall but Heidi and Hannah may reach almost six feet… tall, graceful beauties, they are.

Daniel Wesley was born in our farmhouse on Rutledge Road in Knox County, Ohio in November of 1991. Danny is a loves sports and he is a natural athlete. He and Wes are inseparable companions. They make a lot of messes and are now getting old enough to learn to clean some of them up. He is a fine athlete and an entrepreneur. He sells personal pizzas to the guys who live on our floor after curfew. We have created quite a market for pizza that way. Daniel has a big heart and loves his friends. He and Wes love to play ping-pong. They would rather be into repelling but they live in a big hotel. He is always eager to help.

Wesley Josiah is our littlest guy. He was born at home one winter day in December of 1994. He and his brother Dan are a pair all day long. They are very rarely apart. We just see them as a unit. They are learning all about life right now. We are praying they will grow in wisdom and stature and in favor with God and man. We want them to be might in spirit and serve God with all their hearts all their lives.

Wesley Josiah and Hope America

Wes and Hope (small).jpg

Hope America is the baby of the family so far. She was born April 20, 1999 in Fremont, Michigan at the Gerber Memorial Hospital. It was early in the morning the day of the Columbine tragedy. God had given us the name Hope America before any of that happened. Hope is a bright-eyed little thing a small clone of her mother. Her mom has taken scores of pictures of her. She has a talent for turning the simplest day into a joyful event. She is easy to love and a continual fest of entertainment for all of us. She is everyone’s adopted “little sister” here at the Character Inn.
