We live in perilous times. Whether we realize it or not we all live and work and minister in the middle of a spiritual battlefield. Spiritual warfare is taking place all around us. There is a cosmic battle in the unseen realm where demons and angels struggle for the allegiance of the souls of men, women and children.

The sun glowed on the golds and browns and yellows of the fields. The leaves were blew down in a beautiful cascade of color out of the arch of trees over the road. It was a fine Saturday morning. We listened to the radio chatter and hype leading up to the Ohio State football game. Snatches of the OSU Marching Band brought back memories of fall Saturdays when I was ten.

Autumn passes so quickly I always want to savor every minute of it. It comes and goes so fast that I often feel like I don’t have enough time to get out in it and drink it in. But Sunday was an exception. After church we enjoyed the cool day and the bright sun and the brilliant colors of Michigan. We took more pictures than any family ought to have of themselves. Pictures are a good excuse to go to beautiful places.

Years ago, when I was starting a church in Ohio and needed extra income. I did some moonlighting. The Lord provided a job for me assembling play sets. It was a good job. It was in a beautiful area of the country, I worked for a fine Christian man, it paid well, and I could take my sons to work with me.

On the way back from Wyoming and Colorado Chuk visited a very good friend in Kansas.

My prayer is that my boys always remember that I delight to be with them more than anyone else. We had an unforgettable time in Wyomning. This morning was picture perfect.

The shirt says something like this: “Climb the mountains, drive fast, pass on wrong side of the road, shoot the rapids, kayak the falls… thank you for supporting your local paramedics.”
