Message: A Church or A Museum?
Series: Matthew’s Gospel
Text: Matthew 9:14-17
Place: Evangel Baptist Church–Taylor, Michigan
Speaker: Pastor Kenneth L. Pierpont
If we are not thoughtful we can “spin the plates” of church and oil the works of programs even when they don’t significantly contribute to or mandate to make disciples any more. In so doing we become more of a “Christian Cultural Preservation Society” and less of a Disciple-making organism.
It’s easy to do things because you have always done them, but time is short and millions are far from God. They need the church to be the church. They need someone to come and get them. We can’t allow ourselves to be preoccupied with maintenance. We, who follow Christ, must continually and aggressively be about the business of helping people become followers of Jesus Christ. In this message I explain what Jesus said when he was questioned by those who wanted him to conform to their extra-biblical traditions.
