Indianapolis Training Center
Thursday Morning
It is Thursday morning, the first morning of the Dad’s Conference. Last night Mr. Gothard spoke to open the conference. His message was on how to prevail in the life-long conflict against lust. He used the example of Amalek and gave powerful, clear, practical ideas about how to prevail in this conflict. Israel prevailed as long as Moses prayed. Toward the end of the evening session he taught about how to turn your bed into an altar every night were you can worship God. The men sang, “I Need Thee Every Hour,” and “Draw Me Nearer,” sweetly to the Lord.
I sensed a spirit of anticipation and hunger for the Lord among the men. The staff of the Indianapolis Training Center, directed by Roger Gergeni, are very skilled and hospitable. It is a beautiful place for a conference. Once everyone is “in the house” you have all you need there, food, fellowship, lodging, teaching, resources, and music.
All meals are times of fellowship and Mr. Gothard takes advantage of the meal times for additional reports, testimonies and encouragement.
This morning the men sang; “Holy, Holy, Holy,” “When Morning Gilds the Skies,” and “Rise Up O Men of God.” I could tell their hearts were hungry to worship the Lord. One brother gave a touching testimony about how God woke him in the night, after he had dedicated his bed as an altar. In the middle of the night the Lord gave him a vivid dream that resolved a painful issue in his soul.
Chris Hogan is speaking now on Four Ways to “Connect” in Marriage After A Great “Provocation.” The message is on how to be skilled in resolving marriage conflict God’s way. The men are enjoying his practical, biblical ideas and his humorous delivery.
He mentioned that one man said; “When I get in a fight with my wife I make her get on her knees and beg – I hide under the bed and she gets on her knees and begs him to come out and fight like a man – ” The men laughed for a while on that one.

Sounds like a wonderful conference Pastor Pierpont! My father was privileged to attend the one in February and came back inspired. Dad’s recount of the session on Amalek was very encouraging to our whole family.
Robert Staddon directed me to your blog – great site! May the Lord continue to bless you and your family’s work there at HQ. Thank you for standing along the front lines.
