The season of ripe corn and goldenrod is slipping away and the days are getting shorter. The apple harvest is being gathered in.
The summer is behind us and we have a fresh new week before us. I love October and hate to see it pass. This month we have been back and forth across the state of Michigan between Fremont and Flint. It has given us an excuse to enjoy the cool temperatures and brilliant colors of autumn. In the evening, walking in the cemetery overlooking the lake, geese fly honking overhead. I think of William Cullen Bryant’s words written while a young man seeking the provision and direction of God. They are entitled “To A Waterfowl.”
Thou art gone.
The abyss of heaven hath swallowed up thy form.
Yet on my heart deeply hath sunk the lesson thou hast given
and shall not soon depart
He who from zone to zone guides though the boundless sky thy certain flight
In the long way that I must walk alone, shall guide my steps aright.
As you know if you are a regular Stonebridge reader God has been guiding the Pierpont family in a new direction lately. We have answered the call of God to go into an altogether new ministry as a family. We are grateful to be thrust into the heart of a movement of God in our time.
We will be singing and speaking on the weekends and serving at the Riverfront Character Inn and International Conference Center in Flint, Michigan during the week. We will have a place to live and a modest salary, but we will still need to raise about 25% of our needed support. Some have asked how they can help. We sincerely covet your prayers. If you would like to be a part of the support team that sends the Pierpont Family out, send us an e-mail at [email protected] and we will tell you how you can be involved. Almost every day God sends another reminder that the One who guides the waterfowl through the abyss of heaven is guiding each of our steps.
