If I had a twenty-dollar bill for every time I have eaten at the “golden arches” I would have enough money to by my own franchise. If cheeseburgers are bad for you, my days are numbered. I’m probably about half cheesburger myself. I can tell you our families MacOrder from memory:
One day three-year-old Danny and I were in line after having dinner thinking about a little post-meal snack. The line was long, I was tired and most of the family had already gone to the van. After a long wait I decided that I would skip the after-meal snack and save my money. I headed for the door. At the door I turned to notice that Daniel had not seen me leave and he was standing alone in a crowd of strangers, probably trying to decide between chocolate and vanilla.
Rather than calling to him right away, I thought I would just watch him for awhile. For the longest time he stood dutifully in line. Finally I saw him turn and look at the people standing around him. He didn’t recognize any of the pants and shoes around him so his little head went up and he began to search the faces of the strangers standing nearby.
Panic set in and he began to turn quickly from side to side with a little look of desperation on his face. My heart melted and I called out; “Danny, over here.” A look of relief came to his eyes as soon as he heard by voice and when he turned and saw me by the door broke into a sweet, broad, toothless grin and sprinted toward me.
For just a moment he had searched for me, and he couldn’t see me. But there was never even a fraction of a second that I took my eyes off him.
There have been times in my life when I thought God was missing. I couldn’t find him. I felt panic rise in my heart and I felt abandoned and alone, but there never was a time when my Heavenly Father lost sight of me.
He Himself has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” (Hebrew 13:5)
