How many sacraments are there? Baptists say none, only ordinances. Other groups have settled on seven. Without being too sharp in our theological distinctions, there is a sense in which there are millions of sacraments in God’s great creation. They are everywhere as far as the eye can see and they are all around you. You talk about a reason to get up in the morning!
“And blessed be His glorious name forever! And let the whole earth be filled with His glory. Amen and Amen.” (Psalm 72:19)
The glory of God is powerfully evident even in this sin-cursed world. (Read Romans 1 and Psalm 19). That makes Monday every bit as sacred as Sunday only in a different way. Sunday is consecrated for public and corporate worship. It is to be reserved sacred for glorifying God through public worship. The other six days are to be consecrated for work. They are to be reserved sacred for glorifying God through work. If you do not recognize the sacredness of Monday, you will eventually forfeit the sacredness of Sunday.
Are you deeply aware that the whole earth is filled with His glory this morning? When God grants you the insight to see the sacred significance of all of life, then all of life becomes a holy, God-saturated thing. every spoken word will be a prayer and every daily duty will be an act of worship and every common conversation will be a sacred oracle and every simple touch will be a healing hand and every service rendered will have eternal repercussions and all your life will be a holy thing. all our heart will be saturated with consciousness of God.
That is the way God meant for us to treat life.
