I used to work in the Nationwide Insurance Claims Center in Columbus, Ohio. One morning I got into work and logged onto my computer, began to ready myself for the day when Ragna came in and went to work in the cubicle beside me. She looked over at me and said thoughtfully, “Why are you so happy all the time?”

Everyone has a heartland and as much as I love my adopted state of Michigan something stirrs deep within me when I visit the cluster of counties in central Ohio known as Holmes, Licking, Knox and Coschocton.

Parshalville Mill

Saturday, October 9th we spent some time with Kyle and Elizabeth at a quaint old mill in the Michigan countryside, complete with a waterfall, fresh cider and donuts. It was a perfect autumn day.
