We have just enjoyed another Michigan snowfall. It is beautiful outside. All the pine trees are holding snow. I spoke to a group of men last Saturday morning. On my way to the meeting the snow was falling thick and beautiful. I don’t know why people would want to live in Arizona or Florida when they could enjoy such beauty.

In the waning days of autumn we went to Fremont to sing at the funeral of a dear friend. While we were there a friend, Beth Webster, took some pictures of the family in Branstrom Park.

Lois’s grandmother was married for a few years to a man named Jess Curtis. He was a kind man who lived in a lovely remote “holler” in Kentucky miles from the tiny remote town of Campton. It was a simple and winsome place.

Holmes County, Ohio
Tuesday afternoon we drove the backroads like we used to when all the children were small.

Everyone has a heartland and as much as I love my adopted state of Michigan something stirrs deep within me when I visit the cluster of counties in central Ohio known as Holmes, Licking, Knox and Coschocton.
Attention Please
Kids have always misbehaved. They always will. It’s like a sport for adults to try to figure that out. As hard as it is to imagine, even I sometimes misbehaved in my wayward youth. A generation ago they labeled this depravity. In a more enlightened age and we began to call it juvenile delinquency. That had social overtones.
