I love used book shops. One of my favorite things to find is a volume of sermons by an English preacher named John Henry Jowett. I love to read Jowett. In a collection of devotional thoughts called “The Eagle Life” Jowett wrote about how contagious our moods can be.

Hang on Until Morning
Jim was in despair. Worry had taken over his life. He was hospitalized with shingles in pain and feeling that he could not make it through the night. In despair he sat down and wrote a farewell note to his wife and son.
Mercy
God has given me four sons and four daughters who are very careful not to hurt my feelings. I’m glad because as much as I love them, they could hurt me deeply if they tried. I try to be a big boy but I still have some growing up to do.
