On Wednesday night at Evangel the young people stay after the meeting to play. Moms sit by the fireplace in the lobby and talk. Little children play at their feet. I sometimes stop and talk with the moms and greet the children. Last week little Gabby was playing there. She is a tiny, adorable, three-year-old.
When I tried to get her attention she was shy and hid under the coffee table. The ladies gathered around all laughed. To tease her I pulled the coffee table away. When I did, it bumped her head. She fled to her mother.
“Oh, no. I didn’t mean to bump your head. Are you OK? I’m sorry,” I said.
She hid her face.
“I’m sorry sweetie. I didn’t mean to hurt you. Will you forgive me?”
She buried her face in mommy.
Her mom asked her last week, “Who was that man who hit bumped your head on the table?”
She said, “He’s the man that puts little children under the water.”
I hope to win her trust again soon and make a friend of her. Maybe one day she will decide to follow Jesus and I will officiate at her baptism. Maybe if I don’t hit her in the head anymore and the Lord allows me a long ministry here at Evangel I will even get to perform her wedding and put her children under the water.

This was so cute and so serious. These little ones we have no clue what kind of message we give them. I hear people say things like, “I hope you fall and kill yourself.” It kills me to know people have no clue how much love it takes for these little ones. It takes years of love not hate. I’m sure Gabby will come to love Jesus and you. We need to pray for these little ones not wait till they get older.

This little story gave us an opening at Olive Garden’s to talk to the waitress about going to church. Her name was Gabby and we believe she is a believer putting other things first. She sends her little girl to church.

What a sweet girl. . . I’ll stop and say a prayer that she will know Christ.
