In case you like pictures of beautiful babies..
[This is a letter to my grandson. I’m going to let you read it because there is something we can all learn from him].
Morning, little man. This weekend we were together more than we ever have been in your short four months on earth. I was speaking for a Father-Daughter Retreat at Camp Barakel. I don’t expect you to remember it so I want to tell you some of the things I noticed. Your mom and four aunts and I were there with Karilee, who is going to marry Uncle Chuk. Camp Barakel is the place where your mom and dad met a few years ago. (I saw your mom first and kinda’ nudged your mom and dad together. It wasn’t hard).
You are such an adorable little boy. Your eyes are bright and you are always moving. You have a nice smile and now and again a little furrowed brow that makes you look concerned beyond your years. You must get that from your dad, he can be that way sometimes. Right now your dad combs his hair just like yours. He stands it up in the middle. We all passed you from one person to another all weekend. Your other grandpa, Grandpa Winzeler, was there to. Both of us had to work hard to be big and not fight over who got to be with you more. We both shared and had a great time with you.
I wanted you to sleep with me, but your mom said “no.” I think she was afraid I would roll over on you, but your dad slept with me and I never flattened him. He is still nice and round. I wanted to take you out in a kayak but your mom said, “no.” I think she was afraid I might tip over, but I have never tipped over. I guess we will have to wait until you are older or she isn’t paying attention. She worries a lot.
One of the things I noticed about you right away is that even though you are aware of sounds around you, you seem to especially notice things above you. You like to look at trees and lights and the sky. You concentrate on them and you won’t look away even when people try to distract you. You are always looking up.
It is a good habit and I hope you will keep it up through your whole life. Always look up, little Kyle Kenneth. There will be plenty of people who try to distract you, plenty of reasons to drop your head and start looking down, but don’t do it.
There are a lot of great things to see when you look up. Maybe someday we can see the stars and the moon, clouds and mountains, maybe someday we will even see the Northern Lights together.
Keep looking up, little man. You are off to a great start.

Dear Pierpont Family,
Thank you for visiting us this past Sunday. You encouraged our hearts and gave us an excitement of being in God’s house again to worship. Blessings and praise to the Lord for His unfailing love.
