Jesus promised fullness of joy
- How can I enjoy a happy romance God’s way?
- How do you know when it is time to marry?
- What should you do between now and then?
- How can you keep pure when you are tempted?
I will be preaching about this on Sunday night March 8th at Evangel at 6:00 p.m. I hope you can come hear the message. If you can’t it will be on the podcast later that evening. In this message there are three principles from the Song of Solomon that will help you answer some …

I am going to be bringing three messages about how to be a man of spiritual influence. I hope you will plan to spend the day with us. Every year it is a great conference. About twenty-five years ago I was on staff at Fulkerson Park Baptist Church in Niles, Michigan. Today the church is in very good hands. Their pastor is Brian Hedges. He is a gifted writer and he is dead-on with the gospel. He has written a helpful article on how to present the gospel to children. Everyone with children, or who works with children should consider this article. Brian has three concerns about how to share the gospel with children:
1. That we not replace the true gospel with …

I have a memory tucked away in my heart. We were living in West Michigan. The children were mostly small. I had been out calling. I stopped by the church to check my mail and messages. I called Lois.
“Hey, I’m coming home. Do you need me to stop at the store and get anything?”
I made the mistake of shopping hungry. I don’t remember what she asked for but by the time I got home I had to have the boys help me carry the bags in from the truck.
The …

I was reading John Piper’s practical book; “When I Don’t Desire God” and I found a humorous reference to coffee. Read on:
“The discipline to rise early is not as difficult as the discipline of going to bed. This did not used to be so. Before electricity and radio and television and the Internet, going to bed soon after dark was not so difficult. There wasn’t much to do. Today the strongest allurements to stay up and be entertained are against us. Therefore, the battle against weariness, which makes us drowsy …

Things have been hard in Flint, Michigan for a long time. It has a rich and fascinating history, but it is a shell of what it used to be. In the 1980′s as the local economy suffered through an early downturn in General Motors, the City and other interested parties joined together to build the sixth largest hotel in the state of Michigan in Flint. It was a bold idea that coincided with the development of Auto World. Auto World failed and the hotel never prospered. It went on the …

In the summer of 1988 Central Ohio experienced the most severe drought in 50 years. We lived in a farming community there where many of the people depended on the abundance of their grain yields from year to year, just staying ahead of the interest on their payments to keep their farms and equipment, and preserve the way of life they loved.

A white pastor was a visiting preacher at a predominantly African-American church. In the front row was in impeccably-dressed woman with white gloves. Any time he would refer to a passage of Scripture she would stand to her feet and shout, “He’s in the Word!” He was delighted and started to look for new ways to get Scripture in the message. My brother Kevin added a tool to the site this morning that will make Scriptures jump out at you. I hope this gets us all in the Word more. …
