Where’s My Sunday Paper?
How often do we jump to conclusions and blame others before really examining the situation?
The irate customer called the newspaper office loudly demanding to know where her Sunday edition was.
“Ma’am,’ said the newspaper employee, ‘today is Saturday …
The Sunday paper is not delivered until tomorrow, on Sunday.”
There was quite a long pause on the other end of the phone, followed by a ray of recognition… As she was heard to mutter
“Well, now … So that’s why no one was at church today.”
Proverbs
Solomon wrote proverbs. Psalm 78 says stories and proverbs are a father’s tools for parenting. Now that I’m fifty, more and more I have an ear for wise sayings. I’m reaching toward the “sage stage” of my life so I am collecting wise sayings. Here is a small sample:
“Before you criticize a person be sure you walk a mile in his shoes that way when you criticize them you will be a mile a way and you will have their shoes.” — Read on a dorm room door.

“Anyone who is not awed into silence at the sight of a clear night sky would not make a good companion outdoors. Rudy at Lake Ann
Yesterday I left “Rudy” (Hannah Ruth) at Lake Ann Camp to be a counselor for the summer. (As you can see, I didn’t have my official photographer with me, but I did capture a likeness of Hannah when we arrived at Lake Ann).
It was bitter-sweet to drive away and home, leaving Hannah “alone” for the first time ever. She will be there until mid-August. On the drive home across our beautiful state I had time to quietly think about Hannah. She has been a delightful daughter to have in our home these swift-flying years. She has worked very hard and she has been a great help to her mother and all of us. We will especially miss her cooking, her “cab service,” and her shopping for us. I have so many very happy memories. If you think of her, pray for her and the team of young people and others who will minister there this summer. So far there are over eighty campers signed-up from Evangel.
