Our family spent the month of May in Mexico. We traveled light. I packed a blue blazer and kaki slacks, some dress shirts and work clothes. When we returned from Mexico we were to report to Nashville and then go through Ft. Wayne, Indiana to perform a wedding before returning home. I didn’t have a suit for the wedding but I didn’t want to have to carry one all over Mexico. I hoped that a blazer would do.
What Don’t You Want
You don’t want to go to Subway with an indecisive person unless you want to be there until your clothes go out of style. There are just too many choices. Too many combinations. Buns, sauces, meats, vegetables, cheeses. Toasted or not. Choices!
Summer’s Evening Drive
Last evening we drove back to Flint from our new home in Hinsdale (a western suburb of Chicago). I saw my new office, got all our furniture and stuff into our new home, and briefly connected with the some of those with whom I will be working in the future.
Maurice’s Prayer
When Maurice was a little boy growing up in Florida, he wondered if there was a God. Lying in his bed one still, stifling night he prayed; “God, if you are there send a breeze.” Immediately a strong breeze began to blow the curtains beside his bed.
Pop the Clutch
Grandpa owned a “back-up” tractor. It was a little gray Massey-Furgeson, the forerunner to the popular Ford 9-N, I think. I don’t know why but it never had a starter the whole time I worked with my Grandfather. If it stalled in the field you would have to get another tractor, hook it up to a chain and pull it to jump-start it. In the evening he parked it on a bank out behind the barn and in the morning you would just hop on, turn the ignition to “on” put it in neutral, put in the clutch and release the brake. When gained speed on the hill you would pop the clutch and the thing would sputter to life.

Rom 12:3-8 For by the grace given to me I say to everyone among you not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think with sober judgment, each according to the measure of faith that God has assigned. (4) For as in one body we have many members, and the members do not all have the same function, (5) so we, though many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another. (6) Having gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, let us use them: if prophecy, in proportion to our faith; (7) if service, in our serving; the one who teaches, in his teaching; (8) the one who exhorts, in his exhortation; the one who contributes, in generosity; the one who leads, with zeal; the one who does acts of mercy, with cheerfulness.
