Current Thoughts

I like to stick with Christmas themes in December, but I want to get you this link quick. Some of you have asked me what I thought about the Twilight novels aimed at young women. I once heard a pastor say that it is wise to put a biblical “filter” on all your media. The people at brio have done a good job helping young people think through these romance books. Here is a thoughtful article about them. I hope you will take the time to read it and talk it over with others who may read the series.

Last night we had dinner with Collin, his parents, and grandparents. He is about a year-and-a-half old – an adorable little boy. We all gathered around the table for our meal and he prayed. He started on his own, “Jesus,” then his mother coached him through his prayer a few words at a time. My heart went back to when our children were so wonderfully small and we hung on every little attempt at a word.

Our Father cherishes our prayers. When kids get older their words and their prayers are still sweet to the Father. It’s hard for me to imagine that my Father loves to hear my words like that, but according to His own word, he does.

I like to tell people that I drink coffee in moderation. Usually only one cup a day…. but it is a big cup.

We have a lovely dusting of snow this morning and we’re off to get our tree. I love John Sloane prints. Every year I get a calendar full of them. This is John’s “getting the tree” picture for December 2008. Merry Christmas season all.
