Ken Pierpont is a small-town pastor at heart, who loves people. He loves his wife, he loves his children, he loves God and he loves life. This love spills over into each of his stories. Everywhere he looks he sees extraordinary truths about God demonstrated in ordinary people and common places. He is the father of eight children and he has been a rural and small-town pastor for nearly twenty-five years starting the summer after his junior year in high school when he was only seventeen years old.

Does God Care What You Eat?
Does God care what we eat? He does. It has always been that way. When God put Adam and Eve in the garden he filled it with good things for them to eat and he prohibited them from eating some things. “You can eat all this, but you cannot eat this.” The fall of man was over eating something God told them not to eat. The first temptation had to do with food.

As usual for the first of November in this part of the world the wind has stripped bare the last of the leaves from all but the oaks. The rest of the leaves blew out of the trees like colorful snow. Kendall Krause, a faithful Stonebridge subscriber had a birthday yesterday. He is on staff here. His wife Penny made him apple pie. We visited them after church last night and helped them eat it. It was good enough to make moderation difficult.

Holmes County, Ohio
Tuesday afternoon we drove the backroads like we used to when all the children were small.

Everyone has a heartland and as much as I love my adopted state of Michigan something stirrs deep within me when I visit the cluster of counties in central Ohio known as Holmes, Licking, Knox and Coschocton.
