It’s been an exciting week at the Character Inn. The new class of Verity students is arriving from around the country and some new Character Inn staff members are coming in. God has provided thirty-five staff members to work with us this fall. They are all young missionaries. This fall we have formed a development team to create a new program involving intense study of the lives of great Christians and the devotional classics. The program will be for college credit like a Bible Institute. We should be able to invite our first class to begin in January.

Super-Soaker
A friend was showing me through a barn on his property one day. It was a warm summer day. Kyle and Chuck were about eight and twelve at the time. The barn was beautiful. It hadn’t been a working farm in years. The lower part of the barn was used to store a sailboat if I recall. The upper part was swept clean and used for social gatherings. It was quite a place.

A Simple Suggestion
I have a suggestion for you of something simple that you can do that will almost automatically strengthen the relationships in your family. Your children will be closer to each other. Your marriage will likely improve. When you do this one simple thing communication between family members will improve. With this one simple act many precious hours of time will be saved. With one simple act you will improve the atmosphere of your home. There will be a more reverent spirit there.

If you spent any time at all around the Character Inn the name Marlon Sias would put a smile on your face. He is a fine young man from Minnesota. He is a student in the Verity program. While pursuing his degree program he seems always to be willing to help whenever he is needed.

Opportunities in Disguise
One morning this week I woke up with ideas running through my head I had to get on my hard drive. I jumped up, opened my laptop and began to write as the sun came up over the mountains. I was staying in Tennessee, feasting my eyes on the beautiful green hills. The week was cool. Breeze blew soft and steady through the window just like I like it. After a couple good hours of writing I began to think about how a good nice strong cup of coffee would go down just then. When I am writing and the ideas and phrases are coming freely I hate to stop because sometimes it takes days to get back to the same level of productivity again.
